Our store originally started out as Saskatoon Coin and Stamp founded by Bill Drinkle; a local collector. After several years Mr. Drinkle decided to retire from the business and sold the store to John Jamieson. In the early years, John expanded the store to include a large mail order business offering yearly coin sets and stamps. John eventually decided to focus on the mail order stamp business dealing in the early Canadian stamps and Canadian varieties, so he sold the mail order coin aspect of the business to one of his employees and the retail store to another.
After four years of working for John Jamieson, Vern Parry purchased the retail store. Vern renamed the 23rd street store Hub City Coin and Stamp which he ran for another four years until he sold it to local stamp collector Robert Hackett.
In 1988, Robert purchased Hub City Coin and Stamp from Vern. Soon after, Robert expanded the product line to include sports trading cards and lapel pins. With a rapidly increasing sports card market, Hub City became one of the largest sports card dealers in Saskatoon, not forgetting the established base of stamp and coin collectors. In 1992, Hub City Coin and Stamp moved around the corner from 23rd street to a larger, brighter location on 2nd avenue.
When the move was made, it was decided that Hub City Collectables would be a more appropriate name to reflect the expanded product line. Following the sports card boom of the early 90's, it was decided that it was time to add a new line of collectables; antiques. Antiques have given Hub City a further edge to service the local as well as regional collecting community with a one stop shop!
Hub City Collectables hopes to continue to grow well into the future. Hub City continues to focus on being a one stop shop with a huge variety of coin, stamp and trading card supplies, as well as; Royal Canadian Mint products, Canadian stamps and coins, trading cards and antiques which cover many other collectables.
